Warning OFWs: Beware of Certain Job Offers from Canada

Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) warns the public again about fake job offers from the internet, especially those found in the social media and sent through emails.

POEA came up with a warning again after receiving a forwarded email informing the recipient that he or she has been chosen for a job in Canada and that an interview will be held in the Philippines.

The email also guaranteed that there will be no placement and processing fee but the applicant is required to pay P3,800 for a slot reservation. It also added that it was a licensed recruitment agency.

Among the offered jobs are farm laborers, fruit packers, factory workers, medical staff, caregivers, engineers, truck drivers, and office workers.

The scammer also guaranteed that their employees will get a big salary, with 250% overtime pay and annual leave pay.

The applicant was instructed to send the reservation fee through a money remittance company.

Once again. POEA warned the public that once you pay such 'reservation fee,' the scammer will immediately stop communication or worse, ask for more.

They also reminded aspiring OFWs to check the legality of the job offer before they accept it.
