President Tells Miss U Beauties, ‘Be the Change You Wish to See’


It was one of the best days for the President, and it was to be surrounded by the most beautiful women of the universe.



Duterte, taking a break from the serious works of being a President was extremely delighted to witness the parade of the Miss Universe candidates in Malacañang.

The courtesy call of the Miss Universe candidates was held a week before the world's biggest beauty pageant in Manila.

The President, looking like a perfect gentleman in his barong Tagalog, explained that he was going to read a prepared speech as part of the advice to "behave" before the Miss Universe candidates.






Duterte admitted that it was an privilege and an honor as he has never in his life been with a room full of beautiful women.

He also encouraged the candidates "to be the change you wish to see in the world."

In his speech, the President thanked the Miss Universe organization for allowing the Philippines to host the 65th edition of the prestigious international competition.

With their friendly smiles and good looks, 84 Miss Universe candidates charmed not only the President but other Cabinet members, Palace staff and the media during their visit at the Palace yesterday. Many were seen taking photos of the beautiful candidates while waiting for the President’s arrival for the event.






Miss Finland and Miss Switzerland had to skip the event since they were not feeling well, according to Department of Tourism Director Ina Zara-Loyala.

To the Miss Universe candidates, the President said he hoped they had a wonderful time visiting various places in the country such as Vigan, Cebu, Baguio, Batangas, and Davao.
