2017 might be a lucky year for you to pursue a career abroad. Learn which countries pay OFWs the highest and what jobs are in high demand there.


Ranking was based on job postings published at workabroad.ph, a popular online job search engine for OFWs. The results were released in their 2016 Overseas Report. 

#1: United Arab Emirates (PhP 253,826) 

In-demand jobs: laborers, masons, AutoCad operator, plumber, sous chefs, domestic helper, english tutor


#2: Qatar (PhP 209,700)

In-demand jobs: doctors, health workers, math and science teachers, housing officers, internal auditors


#3: Canada (PhP 172,500)

In-demand jobs: physician, database administrator, marketing manager, computer hardware engineer, quality assurance manager,  pharmacists, IT manager, lawyer




#4: New Zealand (PhP 172,500)

In-demand jobs: baker, metal fabricator, carpenter, electrician, automotive jobs, engineers, hairdressers, nurse, midwife, quantity surveyor


#5: United Kingdom (PhP 153,333)

In-demand jobs: IT specialists, nurse, engineers, accountant, quantity surveyor, estimator, HR and recruitment specialists


#6: Singapore (Php 138,000)

In-demand jobs: cyber security professionals, project manager, business analysts, application developers, data scientists, UI and UX designer, engineers



#7: Saudi Arabia (PhP 138,000)

In-demand jobs: petroleum engineer, surgeon, IT specialist, media and PR, advertisers and creative designers, real estate dealer, english tutor, AutoCad draftsman


#8: Macau (PhP 118,833)

In-demand jobs: finance controller, director of sales, chief engineer, IT / project manager, accountant, finance manager, marketing manager


#9: Bahrain (PhP 113,030)

In-demand jobs: office engineer, accountant, secretary, florist, cashier, interior designer, restaurant manager, domestic helper, mechanical engineer, carpenter, civil engineer



#10: Oman (Php 95,000)

In-demand jobs: avionics instructor, sales manager, mechanical engineer, internal auditor, commercial manager, HR personnel, risk Managers


Apparently, 4,800 OFWs are deployed everyday. Considered as modern-day heroes, their remittances highly contribute to the country's treasury.
