Why Ai-Ai delas Alas Got Bashed For Posting Pictures of Duterte on Instagram

Comedy actress Ai-Ai delas Alas got a load of negative comments for posting pictures of President Rodrigo Duterte on her Instagram account.

The 51-year-old comedienne had a rare chance of taking the president's photo when she attended Gilas' game on FIBA on Tuesday, July 5, which she posted on her Instagram.

She captioned the photo with: "Ang pangulo ...PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE (grabe nung dumating sya chant yung pangalan nya mahal ng pinoy) sayang d ako naka pag papicture .. Nahiya ako tapos noong malakas na loob ko nag simula na yung 3rd quarter hahaha eto nganga wala kami pic .. Atleast na picturan ko sya .. Lakas maka starstruck ni mayor president ..."

While some of her fans shared the same adoration for the president as shown in the comments, others have questioned delas Alas' intent for posting the picture since she campaigned for the Binay camp in the recent election.

The term "balimbing" has frequented the comments section of the post from fans questioning her loyalty. The Philippine Queen of Comedy was silent about this.

Some of her fans were quick to respond, defending the comedienne, saying that the actress was simply being supportive of the new president.

The Ang Tanging Ina actress broke her silence on Thursday, July 8, through text messages to PEP.

"Nanood lang naman ako ng basketball. Na-amaze lang ako sa tao kung gaano nila kamahal si Duterte. Sinabi ko bang Duterte ako?" she said via SMS.

The Concert Comedy Queen confirmed her loyalty to Binay, but admitted she's impressed by the presidents early accomplishments.

"Hahanga ka naman talaga sa kanya e. Di pa nga sya umupo, ang dami nang nahuli na drug lords," delas Alas said. "Ganun sya kagaling, ibig sabihin nun, tinutupad nya sinasabi nya."

Delas Alas added that we should all be in full support to the president since the election is over. She noted, however, that "her heart is still with Binay."

“Siyempre ang puso ko, kay Binay pa rin yun, ang kilala ko at nakiramay sa akin.”

Finally, she said that she would have taken Binay's photo instead if Binay was at the FIBA game that day.

"Wala naman dun sa basketball is Binay. Kung nandun siya, edi sa kanya ako magpapa-picture," she said.
