President Rodrigo Duterte has started his six-year term as chief executive with an "excellent" public trust rating, according to the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Out of 1,200 respondents interviewed for the survey, 84 percent or 8 in 10 Filipinos said they have "much trust" in the president, while 5 percent said they have "little trust," yielding a +79 percent for the then incoming president. The remaining 11 percent said they were "undecided."
The nationwide poll was conducted between June 24 to 27, just a few days before Duterte took oath as the country's top leader on June 30.
According to SWS criteria, a net trust rating of over +70 is classified as "excellent." The survey results, which has an error margin of ±3 percent, was published by SWS's media partner, BusinessWorld on Wednesday.
The first President from Mindanao got his highest trust rating of +90 percent there, +78 percent in Metro Manila, +75 percent in the rest of Luzon and +74 percent in the Visayas region.
Duterte's "excellent" rating is shown accross the board, based on: respondents' income clases, age groups, and educational attainments.
All income classes trust the 71-year-old president. He got a +82 rating from income class ABC and +79 in clasesses D and E.
Also, both young and old Filipinos trust Duterte, with the youth, aged 18 to 24, giving him the highest trust rating of +88 percent, while those aged 55 years and older gave him a +70 percent rating.

Predidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said the president would appreciate this high level of trust but would probably say it's just part of his job.
“I’m sure he would appreciate the trust and he would say, if I know him, na ‘trabaho lang ‘yan, that’s part of the job and that we will continue to do our part,” Abella said.
