A large truck plowed through the crowd celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France Thursday night, leaving 73 people dead.
The attack began when a truck drove for 2 kilometers along the pavement of the Boulevard des Anglais, mowing bodies over, killing 73 people and leaving at least 100 injured.
The driver was then shot dead by the authorities. Police later found firearms, explosives and grenades in the truck.
The truck occupant was identified as a male yet does not appear to have any gunfire from the truck. Also, there was no hostage situation at any point.
President Barack Obama already issued a statement condemning the attack and saying "We stand in solidarity and partnership with France, our oldest ally, as they respond to and recover from this attack."
According to witnesses, 70 to 100 emergency vehicles already came along with two helicopters. Bodies are covered with blue tarps and marked so emergency vehicles don't run over them.
French Presidet Fancois Hollande is returning immediately to Paris from Avignon for emergency talks at the Interior Ministry after the mass casualty in Nice.
