Now we know Donald Trump's wife, Melania Trump, is a fan of Michelle Obama after "unintentionally" plagiarizing the first lady's 2008 convention speech. "A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama," said Melania Trump's speechwriter.
But does her husband agree with her?
It's no longer a shock to see first ladies respecting and admiring one another. Seems like they don't often get themselves involved with their husbands' bloody political fights.
But Michelle Obama has now delivered two speeches that were very tough on Trump, though not mentioning him by name in either.
Trump has now broken his silence with this -- but to praise Obama. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Trump says that he knows the speech clearly targeted him. "I thought her delivery was excellent. I thought she did a very good job. I liked her speech," he said.
Despite Obama's status as a first lady many Republicans love to hate, Trump doesn't appear to have any intentions of attacking her. We all know that Trump doesn't choose the gender of his opponents based on how he picks his political fights with women such as Rosie O'Donnell, Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina, Elizabeth Warren, and so on. Plus everybody knows how Trump feels about Obama's husband.
Trump's tweetstorm during the big speeches of the convention Monday night involved Warren, Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders -- but not a word about the first lady even though her speech clearly stands against him.
Her being exempted on the list didn't escape notice. Is it some sort of respect? Some doubt that. As a matter fact, some people think it's just Trump not wanting to pick a fight with a powerful and eloquent first lady who gave a fantastic speech.
But once again, Trump is not a guy who knows how to just let something go or just lets himself be criticized in a political feud. There must be something about the first lady that's different for Trump.
