'Game of Thrones' Dominates Emmys With 23 Nominations

Last year's biggest winner is set to dominate the Emmy Awards once again as the sixth season of the popular fantasy drama TV series Game of Thrones received 23 nominations this year.

Game of Thrones set a record at the Emmys last year with 12 awards and 24 nominations, including Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series which was won by Peter Dinklage in his role as Tyrion Lannister.

This year's nominations for the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards include the top honor, Outstanding Drama Series, which the epic swords-and-sorcery series won last year.

Coming second with the most nominations is the acclaimed show The People v OJ Simpson, a dramatization of the notorious trial, with 22 nominations. These include acting nomination for Sarah Paulson, who played prosecutor Marcia Clarck. This makes it the first series since 1990 to pick up more than 20 nominations in its first season. The last show to do so was ER in 1995.

Other shows that received multiple nominations include Fargo with 18, Veep with 17, Saturday Night Live with 16 and The Americans with five.
