Alaska Aces might have gotten the victory, but they absolutely paid the price.
The Aces pulled off a 109-100 overtime victory against the fan-favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the ongoing PBA Governors' Cup.
But the game was marred by an unfortunate incident.
In a loose ball play, Alaska forward Calvin Abueva and Ginebra forward Chris Ellis got entangled. As the referee made the call, Abueva, whether intentional or not, swung an elbow that hit the face of Ellis.
The league reviewed the second motion by Abueva and he got slapped with a one-game suspension and incurred a fine of P22,000 for the incident.
"The Beast" help propel Alaska past Ginebra to its first win, tallying 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and a block in 28 minutes.
Abueva will miss the game on Friday against TNT Katropa.
