At a very young age of 15, Therese "Teri" Malvar has once again brought pride to the Philippines as she wins Best Actress award at the 38th Moscow International Film Festival in Russia.
Malvar, a Cinema One Originals actress, won the Silver St. George Prize for Best Actress for her portrayal of the main character in the Cinema One Originals film titled "Hamog" (Haze), directed by Ralston Jover. The film also won the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Golden Goblet award at the 2016 Shanghai International Film Festival last month.
Jover said that he is "extremely proud" of his young actress' latest accomplishment.
In 2013, Malvar made a mark in the movie industry by beating Superstar Nora Aunor in the Best Actress category at the Cine Filipino Film Festival. Three years later, the young actress has already bagged three Best Actress awards for her exceptional performances.
Malvar also won Best Actress in the 2015 Cinema One Originals awards night. The film Hamog, a story about four street children who got caught in a series of unforeseen tragedies, garnered four recognition including Best Editing, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress and the coveted Jury Award.
Recognized for her performances in "daring roles that have expanded the range of contemporary Philippine cinema, Teri is best known for playing remarkable roles in Sigrid Andrea Bernardo's "Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita," Jover's "Hamog" and Ice Idanan's "Sakaling Di Makarating."
Malvar is the fourth, and youngest at 15, performer to win best actress in an A-list film festival following: Nora Aunor for "The Flor Contemplacion Story" in Cairo (1995), Eugene Domingo for "Barber Tales" in Tokyo (2013) and Jaclyn Jose for "Ma Rosa" in Cannes (2016).
The award-winning Cinema One Originals film "Hamog" will have a special screening on July 13, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN Main Building.
