Incoming president Rodrigo Duterte is raring to get to work after his inauguration, incoming Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.
Andanar also revealed the kind of clothing Duterte will wear on the ceremony, explaining that it is created by a Davao-based fashion house named Chardin. The clothing is a barong Tagalog made from piña jusi fabric to be paired with black pure cotton pants.
However, Andanar also said the wardrobe is the least of Duterte's concern.
"His wardrobe is the least of the President’s concern, but he went to fit his barong."
Boni Adaza, the designer of Duterte's barong Tagalog, explained the preferences of the incoming president.
"He wanted to incorporate a symbol to represent the 11 minorities in Mindanao. The tribal prints of the Manobo is the least complicated that’s why we have chosen that. It also shows the President’s simplicity," Adaza said.
Simple snacks will be served to guests at the event. Malacañang Palace caterer Via Mare will be in charge of the menu.
The menu includes Filipino delicacies such as lumpiang ubod (coconut pith spring roll), pandesal with kesong puti (white cheese made from unskimmed carabao’s milk) and Vigan longganisa (sausage from Northern Ilocandia) grilled on the spot, monggo soup mixed with smoked fish and alugbati (malabar spinach) in demitasse cups, fried saba (Carbava banana) slices and Durian tartlet.
Guests will also be served homegrown delights pine-mango cooler and dalandan juice.
Andanar said the ceremonies on Thursday would start at 10:30 a.m. and end around 4 p.m.
