The Golden State Warriors managed to outdo the Cleveland Cavaliers twice in the first two games of the 2016 NBA Finals, but the moment they stepped out of the home court, Cavaliers didn't hesitate to take on the advantage, crushing them by 30 points and leaving them a record of two wins and one loss.
Is this a big slap on the face for the Warriors? Not so so. Besides, they still lead one game. However, being left behind since the start of the game and never recovered is a very bad record, especially during the Finals.
Stephen Curry led Golden State with 19 points, while Harrison Barnes with 18 of his own, yet not enough to save the team from their first defeat.
Now, the biggest question is: Where is the magic of the Splash Brothers?
For a regular player, Curry's points are just enough. But for the MVP, this is not so normal. He just totaled two points in the first half, and just got back on the pace during the third quarter which is quite too late to pull the team up with the Cavaliers, taking on the advantage and pounding them with more than ten point lead every time they make a score.
Maybe his decision to sit out of the Olympic Games in August settles everything. Though not everything should be shouldered by Curry.
If Warriors can't count on Curry, what can they do?
There's the other half of the Splash Brothers, Klay Thompson, who also became cold during the game especially when he briefly left the game after taking a knee to his upper leg. His comeback almost gave the team the right path, scoring 10 points in the remaining quarter, helping Golden State pull within 51-42 heading into halftime. But still never enough to drag the team up alone.
The third quarter just got worse with Golden State being doomed with poor shooting and careless turnovers.
With the Golden State's series lead shrunk in half, the team is now focused on getting back on track in Game 4 on Friday, still holding on a one game lead.
