Manny Pacquiao has scored a big hit once again.
A champion sportsman, celebrity, and politician, the Filipino icon has entered another round in his life -- mobile gaming business.
The eight-division boxing champ bought a small stake in the Singapore-based mobile gaming company GToken for an undisclosed amount. The parties involved sealed the deal in Pacquiao's hometown of General Santos City over the weekend.
GToken holds a net worth of US$60M. It serves over a million users across Southeast Asia, Taiwan and China, according to its company statement, with crowd-sourced mobile games where players earn and spend for in-app and game purchases using its own virtual currency.
Pacquiao joins Ivan Lee, a seasoned entrepreneur, as the investors of GToken. Lee previously ventured in the fields of food and beverage when he built Thai Express in 2002.
Pacquiao and Lee are hoping that this business partnership will gain the same success in the industry against the giants such as Electronic Arts and Blizzard. With Pacquiao's name in the mix, expect good things to happen.
