Kanye West's video for "Famous" features realistic -- and nude -- depictions of celebrities including Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, Rihanna, Bill Cosby, Taylor Swift, Ray J and Chris Brown in bed with West and his wife Kim Kardashian.
"Can somebody sue me already #I'llwait," says Kanye West on his Twitter, which was later deleted. Seems like he's been anticipating for this. The singer who is known to be "always in calm state" might be facing a celebrity war.
The newly released video of his track "Famous" shows wax figures of celebrities, raises past and present issues based on who they are lying and facing next with.
The video which poses both Hollywood and political sensitive issues raises questions and fires, especially on those people whose faces are used in it. Now, will any of the celebrities plans to take a swing and really sue Kanye West for this?
Ray J already expressed his disappointment on it, saying "It's All Bad in My World."
If ever someone presses a lawsuit on West, they'll presumably demand money and an injunction against further distribution of the video, would likely include a claim of violating the Lanham Act -- a federal statute that prohibits false advertising and infringement of one's trademarks.
However, those who will sue West have to prove that consumers were indeed confused, which would probably mean the hiring of a pollster to conduct a survey.
Suing West will be on hell of a roller coaster ride and something that is hard to win. Plus, there will always be a reason why celebrities might not sue at all. Though their faces may have been used for such issues that West wants everyone wants to see, who knows what skeletons could come out of the closet? Maybe West really knows things we don't.
Anyone planning on suing West over "Famous" should prepare for an intensely high-profile battle.
