Fullmetal Alchemist gets a Live-Action Movie


The widely popular anime and manga series finally gets its own live-action movie adaptation.

The Fullmetal Alchemist manga written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa ran from 2001 to 2010 and received two anime adaptations and two animated films.

It was announced by Livedoor News (translation via Tokyo Otaku Mode) that the movie will be released sometime next summer 2017. The lead role of Edward Elric will be played by Yamada Ryosuke (Hey! Say! JUMP and Assassination Classroom). Other casts were already announced too such as Honda Tsubasa (Ao Haru Rise) as Winry Rockbell, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, Sato Ryuta as Maes Hughes, Oizumi You as Shou Tucker, Matsuyuki Yasuko as Lust, Hongo Kanata (Prince of Tennis, Nana 2 and Shingeki no Kyojin) as Envy, and Uchiyama Shinji as Gluttony.

With the stellar cast of some of the hottest actors in Japan, no doubt this is a movie that every will anticipate for.

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of many popular anime that are currently taking a leap on live-action adaptations along with the American adaptations of Death Note and Ghost in the Shell (starringScarlett Johansson) which will be released in theaters next March.

IGN also managed to talk to James Wan about his planned adaptation of Robotech, which will focus on the first arc of the show and primarily resemble the classic anime Macross.
