Another Pinoy Pride: First Filipino Designer to Present at Paris Fashion Week in July

Michael Cinco is making his mark in the fashion industry by being the first Filipino designer to present his collection at the famous Haute Couture Week in July.

Cinco, a Dubai-based couture designer, will be presenting his Autumn-Winter 2016 collection on July 3 at the world's fashion capital.

Describing his collection as a "homage to the beauty of nature," Cinco's exhibition will be presented by the Asian Couture Federation (ACF), an organization that seeks to "recognize, support and promote Asian Couturiers who have exhibited the highest levels of artistry in fashion design."

Following Cinco's presentation will be a showcase of affordable couture-inspired pieces for COUTURiSSIMO, an initiative from ACF to extend high fashion to consumers. Cinco is among the 13 "Asian Couturier Extraordinaire" members of the ACF in the fashion event.

Happening twice a year, the Haute Couture Week presents the collections only of revered houses like Chanel and Dior, companies designated as "haute couture" by the Chambre Syndicale del la Houte Couture.

The 44-year old designer, who grew up in Samar, moved to Dubai in 1997 and has made a name for him self in the oil-rich city.

He studied at the Slim's Shcool of Fashion and Arts in early '90s and also took up courses at Centra. Saint Martins in London. He further honed his couture skills in the Middle East.

Cinco has been presenting his COllections hin the Philippines at Philippine Fashion Week and was also featured designer at the 2011 Red Charity Gala. He also designed Marian River's wedding gown and dressed Hollywood personalities such as Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.
