No Need to Worry for the Gilas

Physicians already cleared June Mar Fajardo to get back for Gilas Pilipinas practice on Monday after having a swollen knee caused by normal wear and tear.

Another good news is that Jeff Chan will join practice for the first time today, giving the team hope after the withdrawals of Paul Lee, Greg Slaughter and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser due to serious injuries.

Chan, who is still recovering revealed that he just had a fourth therapy session to ease the pain in his groin and that doctors have ruled out a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test. He injured his groin during their Game 6 win over the Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

The Rain or Shine’s 6-foot-2 gunner walked with a limp when he first reported to Baldwin last Tuesday, yet excited to rejoin the team, saying “no greater feeling than playing at home.”

Meanwhile, Gilas coach Tab Baldwin will also welcome to fold tomorrow the biggest component of Gilas in naturalized center Andray Blatche.

The Philippines will clash with the Tony Parker-powered French five and then New Zealand in the first phase, needing to win at least one game to make it to the next round.
