During the random manual audit, the National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) discovered that some voters failed to follow the rules in filling the ballots.
DZMM journalist Zhander Cayabyab posted a series of tweets illustrating the incorrectly shaded ballots.
In this one, the voter just marked a dot instead of shading the entire oval:

Some voters didn't even bother to shade inside the oval:

Others only opted to use a check mark to indicate their choices:

According to NAMFREL, vote counting machines cannot read these votes.
