Rodrigo Duterte is arguably the most popular candidate in the history of elections, having won votes from all social classes.
All but one that is.
There is one particular group that went the other way: voters who are in jail.
The statistics provided by the National Board of Canvassers show that detainee voters chose Senator Grace Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay, with Poe garnering a total of 896 votes or about 40 percent of the total 2,193 detainee votes. Binay, on the other hand, got 549.
Duterte only got 387 votes, less than half of Poe's votes.
Roxas was at fourth place with a close 331 votes. Next were Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago with 26 votes and the late Roy SeƱeres with 4 votes.
Based on the 167 certificates of canvass (COCs) tallied by Congress, Duterte was the clear winner in the presidential race with an overwhelming total 16.6 million votes, beating his closest rival Mar Roxas by more than 6 million votes.
