Police who Operates 'Colorum' Jeepneys Threatens and Even Tries to Bribe MMDA Officer Not to Tow Them

A policeman who owns 'colorum' jeepneys tried to intimidate and bribe a constable of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) who apprehended one of his drivers.

A video posted by MMDA traffic supervising officer for operations Edison Nebrija creates online buzz against Senior Police Officer 2 Ariel Aguilar who tried to threaten officers of MMDA.

His jeepney driver was apparently flagged down by a constable after he loaded and unloaded passengers in a wrong zone on September 8.

His driver even tried to escape after the enforcer finds out that he has no proper documents and a franchise.

The alleged driver forgets his license and even forgets his own jeepney.

Aguilar arrived with the driver, who is also his nephew, just in time MMDA is preparing to tow the vehicle.

He initially accused MMDA personnel for illegal towing but Nebrija, in defense, explains their procedures.

He asked the cop that he can just file a complaint to the Traffic Adjudication Board if he has problems in their manner of towing.

"Subukan ninyo hatakin 'yan, magkakamatayan tayo," Aguilar then exclaimed.

It happens that the newly-towed jeepney was actually the fourth jeepney operated by Aguilar to be impounded by MMDA enforcers since an Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) was implemented.

"This is the 4th jeepney na na-tow sa kanya for two days. Then apparently, [may nagsabi sa amin na ] 20 to 25 [jeepneys] ata iyong pag-aari nya na pinoprotektahan niya," Nebrija said.

Nebrija added that Aguilar tried to bribe him in exchange for the towed vehicle.

"Inofferan pa niya ako: Puwede ko ba dito na bayaran? Pakawalan 'nyo na 'yan. Bitawan mo na lang sa may Quezon City Memorial, bayaran kita dito," Nebrija added.

Aguilar was relieved of his post as a traffic enforcer as of September 12 and was demoted to sentinel duty at the gate of Camp Karingal in Quezon City.
